  • Beekeeping Workshop - Saturday, June 4, 2022 - 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Our Honeybee Workshop is coming up on Saturday, June 4th from 10-12. I love this workshop because I love our honeybee guy, Andy. He knows so much, but is hilarious and fun so that my kids scream with excitement when he pulls up our lane. And last summer he kept the attention of 60+ preschool and elementary age kids for an hour...which is saying something! If you are interested in bee keeping he knows so much. Or if you are just looking for a fun outing with your family and a morning on the farm, please come! We’d love to have you. Register at gatherandgrow.us under events. Mostly, we just need more friends of the honeybee out there! 🐝 (Also, you will never be within stinging distance of any bees, unless you choose to walk to the hives with us- and even then, the bees are way more excited about our many dandelions than they are about you! 😊)
Hattie Joy had the real honor of being her dear friend Mia’s flower girl this weekend. The wedding was wonderful and she had a blast, “Mom, like a thousand people told me I did a good job.” Since Saturday she has been busy planning her own wedding. “When I get married I want macaroni and cheese, fruit salad, salmon, pumpkin pie and key lime pie.”
Our favorite lawn service is back! We moved them to come and mow down the backyard. They do quality work: mowing, weed whipping, tree trimming and fertilization. And they’re like a fun screen saver out my kitchen window. 😍
I told the baby it’s the best prenatal vitamin around: goats milk, eggs and asparagus, all fresh within minutes or just a day. The baby kicked in agreement clearly saying, “this is good stuff, Mom.”
We had a glorious day for the Mother Daughter Day Camp, and I am left feeling so grateful for the gift of gathering together. All that I had programmed was good and went well, but my favorite moments of these days is always after the organized stuff is over and everyone hangs around to talk and share dreams and hopes and especially when I find a new friend who also milks goats each morning with her kids. Mothers are remarkable and it was a joy to have a set-apart time today for moms and daughters simply to enjoy each other.
I wanted to show the hand pump we use to milk our goats. The first year I milked into a bucket and loved it, but this contraption means the milk is always contained while we’re in the barn. I think this is our third year using it. Then we come in the house to filter the dairy. We’re one week in and milking is going well. Rory still has to come and help hold the kickers- and then a kid to feed the corn. Today it was Elias. 😊
