10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Mothers and their school-aged daughters (kindergarten-12th grade) are invited for a day on our farm of learning, growing and sharing. The date is the day before Mother’s Day and I believe this event will prove to be a very special gift for both mothers and their daughters.
This event will be led by Becca and includes a catered lunch from her favorite Mexican restaurant, decorating a mother-daughter journal she is designing, and time to be with just your daughter with specific conversation starters on topics that don’t necessarily come up in a normal day.
The theme of the day will be on shepherding: lessons we have learned from our sheep, boundaries and why the sheep need them, and how this all translates to how we hear the Good Shepherd’s voice and distinguish it from the noise of the world. And we’ll have time for mom to tell her daughter why she loves motherhood—a time to say the meaningful stuff, instead of the exhausted stuff!
Ultimately this is simply a soulful day of friendship-building between mother and daughter, with time to visit all of our mama animals and their spring babies. Elsie, Hattie and I hope you can come!
Note: Even though we love intergenerational events at our farm, this day is just for a mom and her school-aged daughter(s). Usually I’d invite a grandma to attend too, but due to the breakout conversations and goal of gained depth in relationship, I would recommend just mother and school-age daughter(s) attend.
Speakers
Becca Groves is a mother of five, married to a never-saw-it-comin’ aspiring farmer in Southern Minnesota. As new farmers, I write about our transition from the city to the country with hopes of sharing our joy and gratitude for all that we are learning.
